Tens of Millions of American Employees Need Message Training
How do we know?
Because, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly 50 million people changed employment in 2022… That’s after 47.8 million did the same in 2021. These “quits” (as the bureau dubs them) are likely to stay in their new gigs for less time than they might have before the pandemic, since tenure and loyalty are fading as well.
These forces mean your HR department is likely super busy, and all your new employees need to be trained up as ambassadors of your brand as soon as possible.
Message and media training have never been more important for three reasons.
- Everyone is an ambassador for the organization. The more people who can represent the organization and its initiatives, the better. They may never speak to a reporter, but they can diffuse a negative customer engagement, help redirect questions to the best internal source, or even recruit new candidates based on their ability to represent.
- For those who handle media interviews, regular training is essential. CGPR’s public relations professionals who work with media every day study interviews, reporting styles and trending news to stay current. This is not a one-and-done area of work. Your organization is dynamic, always rolling out new initiatives and products. Consistent message and media training are essential.
- Lastly, your employees see the training as an investment in them. One of the causes the bureau cites for quitting is lack of training. Your employees want to be invested in… They want to be proud of the work they do and the organization they have joined.
A participant in one of our recent media training sessions had this to say: “The CPGR approach made our media training a great success. Beyond learning a framework and the fundamentals, their collaborative working style helped us uncover messaging that is true to our organization’s mission. It gave us quite a lot to build on: Our team is better prepared and energized to build on the work we started together.”
We’d love to help your team develop updated messaging, pressure test it against challenging questions, and guide organizational leadership in crafting their most important presentations.
